Sun Belle Radicchio
This gorgeous red chicory originated in Italy where it is grilled, used in salads and stirred into risottos. Sun Belle's radicchio is North American grown. It has the same characteristics as the original - crisp firm leaves, variegated colors and a tart bittersweet flavor. Radicchio makes a beautiful garnish; its cup-like leaves are ideal vessels for chicken and other salads on a luncheon plate.
Radicchio is low in calories and sodium and fat free. It is a source of vitamins K and C, folate, phosphorous and copper. Radicchio, as evidenced by its bright red color, provides cancer-fighting oxidants with every bite.
