Sun Belle Rhubarb

Sun Belle ships beautiful crimson rhubarb from Washington State and the Netherlands. The rhubarb stalk has an astringent taste which blends beautifully with fruits and in pastries when cooked. Only the stalk is used.

Rhubarb is rich in Vitamin C, fiber and calcium and contains potassium and other vitamins. Initially used for medicinal purposes, raw rhubarb aids digestion and has laxative properties. Rhubarb originated in China over 2000 years ago and was brought to the West according to legend by Marco Polo making it to North America in the 18th century.

Rhubarb is associated with pies, crisps and sauces since rhubarb tastes best slowly cooked and mellowed with a sweetener and or fruits. We like it paired with raspberries and blackberries.
